ANY
QUESTIONS?
What to Ask the Interviewer
You've come to that point
in your job interview where the interviewer says, "Do you have any
questions for me?" Saying "No" or "I can't think of any at the moment"
won't score any points with the interviewer. He or she may think
that you're not interested in the position at all.
So the next time you hear the words,
"Any questions?" think of it as an opportunity with two main goals:
First to impress the interviewer, and second to gather more information
about the position.
DO –
Prepare! Research the company to get
an overall picture of who they are, what their products are and
so on. The Internet is a quick and easy way to find valuable information.
Most companies (even small Mom and Pop shops) have a website.
On the interview you'll be able to
ask intelligent questions AND impress the interviewer with your
knowledge of the company!
Possible
Questions to Ask:
- Who is your main competition?
- What do you offer that your competition
doesn't?
- What are some of the challenges
the company/department has faced?
- What is the company's mission
statement?
- What is the first project I would
be working on?
DON'T FORGET:
- To ask when they expect to make
a decision! Asking shows that you're eager to know if you will
get the job.
Questions
NOT to ask!
- Don't ask, "What does the company
do?"
- (You should know this before you
go on the interview, if you don't, it shows that you haven't done
your homework!)
- Any question regarding vacation
time, overtime, benefits, promotions OR salary! It's best
to wait until they're serious about hiring you. You can always
turn down their offer if it's not what you're looking for in terms
of pay or benefits.
